Exfoliating the week of your wax can remove dead skin build-up and prepare skin for the best waxing results. Just don't exfoliate the day of, as the wax acts as an exfoliate and can cause your skin to be irritated. Make sure to not use any lotions or oils the day of your appointment, this can irritate the skin and create a barrier between the wax and the hair.
The answer is NO! You want to stop shaving at least two weeks before your appointment. Your hair should be the length of a grain of rice, if not longer. Just remember too long is always better than too short, the length is needed so the wax can grip the hair and remove it from the root. When the hair is too short the wax can cause the hairs to break causing ingrowns!
I won't lie, It’s definitely not great when it’s your first time. The more consistent you are with keeping your scheduled appointments every
4-5 weeks the better! As the hair gets thinner overtime the waxing gets easier. Just make sure to keep up with a good skin care regimen which I will go over with you during your appointment, this will also help give you a better and less painful experience during your wax.
Waxing is never done on clients taking Accutane and is not recommended for clients taking Retin A, Renova, Differin or other types of skin thinning acne medications. Please read the label carefully and consult your dermatologist if you are taking any medication or using any topical cream that contains these medications.
